Dave Brown

Dave Brown has more than 30 years’ experience working at the United Way of Sarnia-Lambton. Having moved to Sarnia from Bracebridge in Muskoka, Dave loves Sarnia-Lambton and is proud to call Sarnia his home. “I am proud to have raised my two children in Sarnia. My daughter now works in Sudbury for the United Way Centraide Sudbury and/et Nipissing Districts. My son, still in Secondary School, like his sister is bilingual, has played a number of travel sports not only in Sarnia, but also Port Huron, Chatham,”

Dave has sat on a number of United Way Committees throughout Canada and has a good relationship with United Way staff and volunteers from both Canada and the United States.  He is a member of the Canadian Association of Gift Planners and is committed to a number of workshops and learning opportunities to keep abreast of new legislation, new ideas, and methods to keep the United Way of Sarnia-Lambton current; meeting the maximum amount of community needs as possible.

Dave is active in the community as both a board member of volunteer President/Chair of a local Not-for-Profit organization, and two parent councils when his children were young.  He has also helped out a number of friends with their charitable projects.
Dave is very committed to the United Way of Sarnia-Lambton and the outcomes and impacts it and the funded agencies are responsible for.  Dave, himself has committed 10% of his estate through his will and feels that it is important to walk the talk.  He looks forward to talking about how he made his decision and what options are available to support the United Way of Sarnia-Lambton now and in the future.

I have a small life insurance policy that was purchased when I was very young. It pays a modest death benefit that will result in a substantial contribution to the United Way of Sarnia-Lambton. I feel that leaving this benefit to the United Way will have a much greater impact on the community than it would to my estate and I benefit from the tax contribution today.
